I am in the process of buying an ipod and i would like some advice.

1. I have friends on both side of this issue and i am having trouble getting a straight answer. Which ipod is better 3G or 4G? The cheapest i have found a 4G 20GB ipod is $269 shipped, and for a 3G 15GB is $230-$240 shipped.

2. Does the Apple store Refurbished section ever have ipods in stock? And if so what price?

3. Any one have any ideas about how to get an iPod (3G/4G 15GB or higher) for under $220 shipped.

4. eBay has alot of broken iPods for sale dirt cheap, are they easy to fix?

1. I would go with 3G because i don't really like clickwheel but rather go with the 4G with that price with 5GB more storage space.

2. I think so but I don't think they will sell it directly. The models are mostly for people who are getting their batteries exchanged or something.(I think)

3. Search eBay or other "Sales" forum or auction for the deal.

4. I would rather stay away from "Cheap" ones because they are usually defects or some "Copies" made in China or so.

1. I have 3G, but I would choose 4G if I had a chance, because it's, quite simply, newer. 3G will be forgotten like 1&2G soon.

2. I don't think Apple itself sells used ones. They give you used one when you have battery problem.

3&4. No idea. tongue.gif

I was also considering an iPod mini. Does anyone have any recomendations regarding iPod minis?

NO. I have bought one, returned it in 5 hours of usage. It's only small. I recommend iPod if you want to get an iPod mini. If you're considering iPod mini more, than check out Creative Zen Micro or its new brother, ZM Photo that will be out in late January. Also, iRivers are exceelent.

Personally, i think the 1G & 3G made what the iPod is today. I would go for the 3G

I have one as a gift from Cristmas, and I think it's great. Sure, the price is a little sketchy, but the iPod itself is great

Though I love my 3G, I'd just say to go for the 4G because of the 12 hour battery compared to the 3Gs 8.

My preference is 3G, bought myself a brand new 40gb off Ebay. The click-wheel is an acquired taste - I tried it out at stores and didn't like it to be honest.

Tryout either generation before buying, it should help.
