illmonkey
alot for a 18 year old in a BMW in london!

i was quoted £2500 for my 1.2 clio in a small village! and im 18 also.

Edit: if you can get it under a parents name with you as a named driver it should be better, i done that last year and from £2500 to £900. but you dont get the no claims discount.

Oh, you say no one will give you a resable quote, well thats because your probley the highest risk out there. the quotes your getting are genuine im sure. smile.gif

seriously why do you want a 316? they are the most popular car on the road. for a bmw its hardly exclusive, plus you'll look like a 'bmw driver' and we know what people think of them.

anyways, for a reasonable quote contact CIS (co-operative insurance)
Prince21
What car would you suggest as a first car but a big boy car nufin small. SOmething like size of BMW?
illmonkey
well i hate to say it but your quote will be high no matter what car it is.

also, hate to say, something like a vectra will lower it a little. stay away from "prestige brands" merc, bmw, audi. You know, something no one will want to steal.

Clio Village you got ripped off on isurance

Read Maxpower one in a while

Yes 316 common but not year 200 or 1999

1 one answer. a hell of a lot more than the car.

In uk, dont even look at anything above a small car, fiesta, 206, cleo etc till your 21.

What the hell is a 316? Is that like an even more econo 318?
illmonkey
yea. very sluggish.
Dashel
Is that still on the E36 chassis?
....
Please please please don't buy minimums. Have your agent explain to you what exactly those liability limits cover. You could be mortgaging your future if you do not have adequate coverage on your vehicle.

Getting a big vehicle, especially at your age, is just compensating for something. tongue.gif

Why don't you get a smaller car? Unless you are uber-rich and can afford to keep a BMW?
Dashel
A 316/318 is not a big car by any means...unless you compare it to your average ricer. wink.gif

hehe, I drive my mums Audi A4 smile.gif

Insurance is £800 a year, im 18, we live near birmingham. Not too bad, except she had to put her excess upto £1000, and she's got 5 years no claims or something. So that helped lower it. Only problem now is I dont gain any no claims sad.gif

You wont get insured on it. And if you are lucky enough to find a company that will insure you, it will be sky high.

thats not a bad price, but that excess! whoa, if you done any sizable damage to your or anyone elses car in it you would be buggered (unless you got a bit of cash).

I wrote my clio off, excess was £250. not to bad i thought, untill i was told as im under 21 i have to pay a "preium" for £250 ontop. But lucky i had GAP protection on my car so all the money i would of lost if i sold it i got back, so i managed to get rid of a car and loose pretty much no money over it!
