I have been to a number of local rock gigs in my town and I am considering Leeds/Reading etc. (are there other big ones?)

Thing is, I am clueless. When are they on? How much are the tickets? Who is playing? Where do we stay? Can we take our own booze? What should I expect there? Anything I should take? etc. etc. So many questions lol

I am surprised there has been no replies noexpression.gif
Mambo Boy
reading/leeds are late august time
tickets are around £110
you can take your own drink into the camping site, aslong as it isn't glass bottles. My friend learnt the hard way...(24 bottles of stella conviscated)
you can't take your drink into the main arena, but instead you either get wrecked before you go watch bands, or pay £2-£2.50 for a 'pint' of Carling
take just enough food. Take too much and you'll regret it. The last thing you want to do on the day u come home is carry a huge bag packed with stuff you don't need!
Must-haves are toilet roll/baby wipes, &duct tape for if you get a rip in your tent.

Leeds beats Reading tongue.gif

Basically its August bank holiday. You camp onsite if you get a weekend ticket, and these cost £105 plus booking fee. The bands are as yet unconfirmed, but theres like 5 stages all playing at the same time. In the past everyone from Blink and Linkin Park to System of a Down and Metallica have performed on the same weeked (obv at different times).
You can take your own booze, and i hate to drop it in, but searches can be pretty lapse for other substances.

Be careful though because we did get disposable bbq's taken off us until we lit a big campfire on the first night and got an audience (we were on a slight hill if anyone remembers the first fire with like 200 people around on the thursday night at leeds)

Anything else ask away
Daniel.

I live in Reading so I hear a lot about the festival, I have a few friends who went last year and I'm hoping to go this year (if the line up is any good.)

Last year the festival took place on August Bank Holiday weekend (Friday 27th till Sunday 29th) The tickets were £40 for a day ticket and £100 for the whole weekend including camping. You do have the option of camping with a weekend ticket, but you could get a hotel if you really wanted (although I've heard that there isn't anything comparing to the community spirit in the camping zone, and you'd be missing out on a lot if you didn't stay)

I'm not sure if you're allowed to take your own booze, sorry. I'll come back to this thread when I've spoken with some of my friends who went last year.

You may be better going to 'Download' if you like rock music (as your blog states).

Leeds/Reading has a variety of music styles, Download is Rock/Metal. If you are open to other styles, Leeds/Reading can be good.

Me, i'm a Download person devil.gif punk.gif

I am planning to go this year. Keep an eye out on http://readingfestival.com/displayPage.asp?PageID=333 for any updates.
saxondale.
Leeds again for me

Going to Download and Reading this year.
Tickets for Reading at the moment are £120 from Stargreen, but these are the pre-bulk ones. The only band rumoured/confirmed is *shudder* Iron Maiden.

If you want a variety of music and a fun friendly atmosphere, Reading/Leeds is the way to go.
If you want heavy rock music and not such a fun atmosphere (seemed like that, been twice now, doesn't seem as active as Reading), do Download.

Personally, do both ^_^, both worth it.
