Hey everyone, I need your help. I have SUSE 9.1 Server Edition installed on a secondary server I am using, but I can't get my inbuilt nForce LAN Network Plug installed.

I open yAsT and then go to Network Cards and click the Network card, and then it doesn't have mine listed in the configure, (select network card) so I cannot install my network card. I have gone to the nVidia website (http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_nforce_1.0-0261) and downloaded the RPM and RUN files and I install the rpm, and then go back to find it in the list, and its not listed still, tried restarting the server and still it's not there. I then try using the .RUN of it, through the console getting into ROOT and then typing sh (filename).run and it brings up the installer in a console type form and then I run through it and get weird errors, about my kernel-sorurce and its not running or installed and then it says about it failing to install the files because of the kernel-source then it terminates the program. And still, my network card isn't in the list. So I am stuck for what to do, to get this damn thing on the Internet. I am told this might be of use for the kernel source: 2.4.21-183-athlon, I got that from typing: uname -r I believe. I need this fairly badly, and it's really annoying, any idea's please, I would be very grateful. smile.gif
Thank you,
JMann

Edit: This is the message I get:

QUOTE
ERROR: Unable to load the kernel module 'nvlan.o'.  This is most likely because the kernel module was built using the wrong kernel source files.  Please make sure you have installed the kernel source files for your kernel; on Red Hat Linux systems, for example, be sure you have the 'kernel-source' rpm installed.  If you know the correct kernel source files are
installed, you may specify the kernel source path with the '--kernel-source-path'
commandline option.

The nforce ethernet module is called forcedeth. Try modprobing it.
JMann
Ok, I will look for that module in the list, I have only checked for nvnet, but forcedeth, hopefully. smile.gif Could you explain Modprobing please, forgot to mention, Linux newbie. smile.gif
JMann
ForceDeth did not work, and nor did installing my kernel-source, because of it not having a c-compilerer.
