I had another idea for a winamp skin. This one would have a full mode and a compact mode, and like the Orion skin the full mode would have a song progress bar and song name where the compact mode would not.

Here are some ideas about where I could lay out buttons.

Why dont you changue the equalizer to the left arm of the transformer, that way you can locate it better IMO. smile.gif
nomis_nehc
damn, the full mode would be so complicated. =/
cmove
lol yes i like the compact version.

I think I'll try to make it next week. And I want to keep the eq where it is for some consistency between the compact and full modes. And I think I know how to make it show a manual page, which I'll include both of those legend images in.

That will be sweet, just one minor thing please, please don't make him purple like in that pic.
He is ment to be blue, a nice dark blue/deep purple, not that purple pink it's got going on there.
At least that is how I remember him. smile.gif
Apollo
well you are ambitious
Hekx
Transformers!

Looks good, but that will be very hard to do I think.
The detail alone might cause some performance problems.

Maybe trying a cel-shaded style?

Yes, that is correct, he is blue in the movies.

I really like the idea. This could make me use WinAmp again (instead of Foobar).

To address some concerns of people, I tried to re-color soundwave to be more true to the blue that we remember him being on the cartoon. Also, I'm considering moving around the buttons some. The idea to have a hover effect that tells what the button function is appeals to me.

Much better color. biggrin.gif And your idea for the buttons are pretty much exactly like
they are on him, except pause is record, but winamp has no record so thumbs_up.gif.

Okay, but you should re-vector the image so you can add stuff that you need and it will look good
aaronspuler
If I could get someone to vector it for me that would be great, but I don't know how to do that...
Vidar
Just an option. Was working on this earlier this year. Go Autobots!
aaronspuler
Updated the first post with recolored versions, and different button configuration.

Vidar, you have any more images? Or if I gave you my *.psd file, could you vectorize it for me?
aaronspuler
This is what I was thinking about for the Equalizer window background.

Here's a progress shot, this is a screenshot of the skin in action in Winamp. I have all the buttons mapped out, I just want to add a few hover effects and then I'll call the robot version done.

awesome, cant wait for this! biggrin.gif
Alex_is_Axel
isnt there any way you can rotate the <now playing> text to the same angle as the shape? I think that would be alot better but ive never seen it as an angle before. Just a thought smile.gif
JorgeIvan
Nice pics
aaronspuler
vip, JorgeIvan -- thanks.

Alex_is_Axel -- I'm actually looking in to that, there's a skin that someone pointed out to me on the winamp.com forums that has this feature. I think it would look really good and polish off the robot version of the skin nicely.
insanekiwi
wow. this looks very promising yes.gif
spacey
yes cleaning up the image would make it much nicer. i would so use it just for nostalgia's sake.
Pajter
Kewl idea. But too bloated for me. Also I don't really like the quality of the robot picture. Cell shaded/vectored would be so much cooler happy.gif
xhobbitx
This has the possibility, to the greatest thing ever.

Spacey, Status_Seeker

I know that cleaning up the image or cell shading/vectoring it would make it much nicer, but I don't know how to do any of that. I am limited to what images I could find off the net. I lack the photoshop skills to do much more than general clean up and recoloring....
Pink Floyd
hehe nice idea

Awesome! biggrin.gif

Maybe this one looks better...

I'll see if I can get the time to come up with a Vector version of the tape. The robot would be rather complex to tackle as my 2nd only vector and I'd be prone to using just the tape/cassette version.
aaronspuler
I've finished this skin. So far, I don't have a web page available for it on my site yet. But I do have the file available. I'd like comments please.

Haha, this is the most original Winamp skin I've ever seen. Good job Aaron.
