Axcel216 has created a new unattended install of his "Killer Replacements", that is...to replace 98SE system files with ME files.
So, if you have an ME disc handy and want to perform the transplant, head over here-

This gives you just the good bits of ME.

... like the icons and colors etc.
I really liked the Windows ME/2000 icons. I prefer them to Windows 98's.

If it makes 98 look like ME, and includes the apps without being ME level buggy (it's just 98 level buggy biggrin.gif ) then i suppose it's ok.

I would just upgrade to 2000 though, i dont really see the point of staying on such a old, insecure OS.

If a guy uses Windows 98 (or even worse, Me), security is the least of his worries, IMO. biggrin.gif They crash long before any miserable hacker (attacking Win9x/Me is like nuking a dog) attacks them.

Well, I have an old laptop with Win 98SE on it, and this would be good as I've tried installing ME but ME won't install on it as it says that my laptop's processor is too slow.

Man! Isn't that the truth? If anybody is going to bother upgrading ANY Windows 9 versions, hopefully they would be intelligent enough to go with at least W2K.

Anyway...
98 or ME...
In 3 hours the whole OS can be unusable biggrin.gif
So I recommand to this guy to take the 2k core in put that in 98...
soldier1st
sum ppl can't afford xp or 2000 or even upgrade there hardware just for it
i've ran win9x for weeks on and not a single reboot, all it was doing was displaying a screensaver and never frooze or crashed
with me the os is unstable out of the box
with 98 it is not
