forgot about hockey [in dusgust] for the time being

i cant believe how greedy those mother****ing players are

nhl will never be the same... realmad.gif realmad.gif

they are just playing a game. sure they are entertaining but its not worth no 5-10 mill a season, when there are plenty of people actually contributing to society and would have no possible way of making that much in 30 years.

money is sick.gif .

I'm just dealing with it... Besides, I hardly watch TV anyway, even when the season's going, so I'm really not missing it too much. I'd be far too busy to pay it the attention it deserves.

...well said Travis, I couldn't agree more. I don't think there's anyone in Edmonton that doesn't feel that way. If the owners don't get cost certainty, we can kiss the Oilers goodbye. What I can't get over is that those f***ers, errrhhh, I mean players, are so damn greedy, that they would risk some of the small market teams folding ...which means fewer jobs for them...but they would still do it just to line their own pockets!!! Where's the sense in that?

I'm a true Canadian who's grown up on the game since the late 1970's, so I totally miss it and feel that void. ...but I honestly don't want to pay top dollar to watch a team that can't afford to compete: Edmonton, Calgary, Buffalo, Pittsburgh all need this deal just to remain viable and ice a competitive team.

In the meantime, I've been watchin' Sportsnet's classic hockey matchups. Nothing beats watchin' the 1980's era of the Battle of Alberta. tongue.gif

Well I have to commend the NHL for actually taking action against the players. Any other sport would have just let it go and given in, but the NHL had the balls to suspend the season to get the players in line. Props to that. As much as I miss watching the great games, I can't help but think it's for a good reason.

yes but the nhl market is not near as large as other professional leagues..

cant wait till this is over and a salary cap is in place [ bettman recently said the NHL would not compromise on the cap ]
..and to see the oilers skate again w00t.gif

well, i watched a lot of tennis. it really sucks though once the nfl is over. i wish espn would cover some more college hockey, since i don't get to see michigan play anymore in cali.
Steffan
I have started to play more attention to the local AHL team. I have also played more video games and watch more tv. Soon, I'm going to start studying for certifications and get a full time job.
mavi
I've been watching some basketball!! Dang, I miss those Maple Leafs!! I wonder if they could have made it far this year???
Well what can yah do, just wish the owners and players can comprise on a deal already, winter is almost over mad.gif

Fred Derf
The NLL has started so that'll give me a near hockey fix.

I can't get into watching a AHL game on TV. Maybe it's just the camera work being so comparatively unprofessional. I feel sorry for Americans who can't watch HNIC. Some of the NHL games that I've seen on American TV (i.e. Sunshine Network in Florida) have been atrocious.

Erm, not really. I'm a "real" hockey fan (whatever that's supposed to mean) and I'm not watching any hockey right now -- just waiting for the NHL to resume. Possibly the WHA if it ever gets off the ground, too.
DevilsJim89
Well since my fav team Devils aren't on I just pay attention to my high school ice hockey team and I've been keeping myself busy with that. I dont watch college hockey.
Dallas
i finaly got a little fix. went to a ECHL (2 steps under NHL) and say our local ice pilots woop up on the augusta team.i think our team has 2 nhl players.

Laughing-Man
Two days ago I came to the harsh realization that after football is done this weekend, I have nothing to look forward too. After the Eagles' season is over I usually switch to Flyers mode, but that doesn't look like it is going to happen. After what happened with the Red Soxs, this could have been the year for Toronto too, only if they could get past the Flyers, but they never do. biggrin.gif . I guess I am going to have to watch Mighty Ducks 1-3 since there is no NHL season. This sucks.

They all suck. I'd rather put toothpicks in my eyelids and watch Youngblood over and over again. At least there's a bit of nudity.

Other than Slapshot, which has been mentioned, there's that Mystery Alaska movie.
Ivo
I'm actually just waiting for the season to come back...

I have a close source that's telling me it will be VERY soon ninja.gif
