Does anyone know if there is an anti-wristband wristband? Or a place where I could make my own custom wristband? I'm referring to the oh-so-trendy "charity" wristbands. No flaming please. I'm all for charity, but kids at school buy them in large quanities and resell them for profit

im right with you on the wristband thing. if you give to charity so what, everyone does. its just a fashion thing and it gets under my skin.

I hate these "trendy" wrist bands, they are only bought so people can look cool and have nothing to do with the charity .
If you want to give to charity set up a direct debit directly with the charity of your choice dont wear a stupid wristband

I see the point for donating and all for the wristbands, but do you really have to wear it everyday? One day is enough. And everyday you see theres a new type of "band" selling. I walk into 7-11 and I see one for the tsunami relief. They did all that donating on TV, isnt that enough money. Damn they should make a anti-wirstband. Make it red with some bright ass writing so people know when they see it, they against them tendy mofos.

The irony in that is those people would become equally 'trendy mofos' as you so bluntly put it.
Trendy or not, the bands (particularly the LiveStrong ones) have been highly succesful in raising money and rallying support behing their cause.

i agree that the trend thing is stupid, but so are most trends. but in order for them to get the wristbands they have to buy it from the charity guys.
so charity wins in the end

I agree. The money reaches the charity one way or another.

The livestrong ones are just an exploitation of the cause...you don't see everyone wearing breast cancer ribbons to look cool.
I wear them cuz I know the pain having to go through cancer. Dad passed away last year because of cancer, now that I am more cancer aware, I feel like I have this 'duty' to support cancer research (after all, cancer is genetics, they better find a cure when I am older...

You can buy them for around £1.50, but I often see them on eBay for over 10 times the price of that!

Totally agree, i have two, one is to show support for the BBC's anti bullying campaign (a subject close to my heart) and the other is to show support for the Campaign For Justice for the 96 who died at hillsborough.
They are not a fashion statement, in fact, i would be happy with just giving the money and not having the wristbands.

I agree. I wear one supporting organ donation. I wear it out of respect for a friend who died last year because she could not get a heart transplant in time.
People ask me about the wristband and I encourage them to become an organ donor.
I could give two sh*ts about how 'trendy' or not the wristbands are.
why u moaning about what people choose to wear

this is simply one of those cultural fads that we'll look back on in 5 years and shake our heads while we laugh at how stupid they were. anyone remember the 80s? the early 90s? hammer pants? those friggin snap braclets??
I've noticed that the people who don't wear them, or are against them, seem to be more on the extremeties of the social scale.
That's just my observation.. my observation..
I wear the original 'wearyellow' LiveSTRONG bracelet. It's the originator.
