Fact: These bracelets don't look 'good', no matter what outfit you wear or complexion you have. However, many people did buy them as a simple way to get money out to a cause.
Opinion: Charity is charity. You bought it, they got their money. That doesn't mean you have to wear it. Some people wear it to show off their charity, which is selfish, and reminds me of one point of Christianity I strongly agree with; acts of charity should be done quietly and with respect for the recipients.
The companies that manufacture these bracelets get on my nerves the most, though. They're taking advantage of trend-setting in teenagers. By making a charity out of an accessory, they know a few people will buy at first, then a bunch of other kids will buy to feel 'included' or because a perception forms that it's stylish. Young people are drawn into fads and trends no matter what anyone thinks, and the bitter anti-trend angsters (the ones who go off and create their own trends anyway--because that's some sort of statement or something) gripe about it mostly just so they can find other people who agree with them and ultimately feel 'included' themselves. It can't be helped how kids are, and these companies are taking advantage of it.
They're making a marketing scheme out of charity. That's disgusting.
i'd agree with you joshie, but...thats life...
as for myself, i really do support anti-racism alot. there are reasons behind it though.
in my country they don't sell those anti-racist armbands by nike, i guess cuz they dont ship them to asia...but lucky for me! i just bought them from and auction dealer and its gonna arrive tomorrow! whoopee!

I support the Livestrong cause and all, but most of the people i work with don't even know what they're for. And, they're trendy.
Although in my town, there is a firefighter who needs a extensive operation, a lung transplant, specifficaly. He needs $500,000 to do this, and him and his buddies at the department setup a charity called "Lungs for George" You pay $1, it goes to his surgery fund, and you get the famillar braclet like Livestrong's. Except it's green.

I can't believe all those who are angry against the wristbands

You purchasing something that supports a charity, which 99 of 100 times you wouldn't of donated to them anyway. They are getting financial support for their cause and your receiving a wristband that has become a trend. Big Deal ! If you don't want to wear the damn wristband, don't wear it. If you don't mind the idea of supporting the charity, buy a damn wristband and give it to someone. Who cares if people in school buy them in bulk and make a profit on them. They had to buy them in the first place, so the charity got their donation, right.. Plus kids buy **** in bulk and sell to make a profit all the time. How about those pot dealers, huh.. How about when the school sends you out to sell chocolate bars that cost no where close to what they sell them for, huh...
Trends are just trends, learn to live with them. At least this trend actually is a nice trend that helps those in need and those who would of never had as much help in their cause. Just imagine how much $ the charity received, that they would of never got, for each wristband they sold for $2. Most of you don't really care but imagine yourself being one of those affected with the illness

I didn't get to read it all but I think I have you all beat.
I was at a bar last night and a Miller Lite representative gave me and my friend black ones that say Miller. Yes, a beer company is now using them. We went from cancer research to beer. Admittedly both worthy causes, but they should not be compared to each other.

I was recently sickened to see WalGreen's selling wristbands like the real ones that say stuff like Love. I own 4 wristbands and will only purchase a wristband if I believe in the cause. People who buy large quantities of the LiveStrong ones then resell them some of the lowest people on earth. I am proud of the 4 that I have because they pay for somethign USEFUL, like Tsunami benefit, books in third world countries, pet adoption, and money for a anti-war movie to be shown across the US.

Sickened? Its a fashion accessory. I can't believe people think most of these wristbands exist for anything more than to look good. Yes, Armstrong had done some good to raise money and awareness for cancer, but there have been far better and more successful ways to donate to a cause. I've donated a large portion of my money every year to different causes, and I don't need to show it through some bracelet, a building named after me, or whatever new trend comes down the line. People are wearing them to draw attention to themselves, not the causes they support.

One can be reasonable and angry at the same time. They can tie together. For example, I can be reasonable when making a decision and still be mad that I have to make it.
Reasonable: Capable of reasoning; rational.
Angry: Feeling or showing marked displeasure.
See? They don't contradict eachother. They aren't antonyms. They just don't normally get associated with eachother.
Anyway... get back on topic...

i think its AWESOME that this has become as popular as it has in some ways. like for the fact people ask about them, and i dont think too many people who answer say "it looks good" they all say what it means to them. how it effects there life.

Does anyone else see the irony in getting/wanting an anti-wristband band?

That’s a little nuts…..

I have a LiveStrong one I have had for sometime, I actually have never taken it off since I got it, but this trend has been around for a long time probably 2-3 years before the Livestrong bands even came out..... I think it was Nike who first started it, I remember back when I was playing basketball in high school it was becoming a trend people wearing different NIKE ones, I actually had this guy on my team who had like 10 different colors

The referees would not let you play with them on though

if they saw you with one they would make you take it off........
