While it doesn't have the same "prestige" as the Acura or Infinity, the upcoming Grand Prix GXP offers much more "bang for your buck" (performance, room, etc. for the money).

2005 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GXP PACKS V-8 POWER
ANAHEIM, Calif. — Pontiac announced production plans for the 2005 Grand Prix GXP - a high-performance sedan equipped with more refined interior appointments, distinctive exterior appearance, sport-tuned suspension and a new 5.3-liter LS4 V-8 engine producing an estimated 290 horsepower.
The Grand Prix GXP is the latest GXP concept to reach production, following this year's successful launch of the V-8-powered Bonneville GXP, which currently accounts for about 30 percent of all Bonneville sales. It is the first Grand Prix model since 1987 to offer a V-8 engine and it is the first Pontiac equipped with Displacement On Demand (DOD) technology, which can provide up to a 12 percent improvement in fuel economy by seamlessly deactivating half of the engine's cylinders in certain light load conditions.

+1 for the Acura

Drive them both like I have and you'll see the Infinity offers a little more than the Acura. I like the G35 more because of a smoother ride, more ameneties and in some cases, a better value. Both are great and appealing cars but if I had to choose, I'd say G35 all the way. Test drive them both and give them a fair chance and see what you think when you're done.

INFINITI
Coupe or Sedan?
I'll do it for sedan. Let's see....
298 HP vs. 270 HP
260 lb/ft vs. 238 lb/ft
RWD vs. FWD
Base price $31,000 vs. Base price $33,000
I think, basically, the TL is more luxury aimed while the G35, especially the coupe, is performance and luxury (less luxury than TL tho). I think of the TL more of a refined and sporty car for a person with a family needing 4 doors. Either car would be great, but I would personally choose the G35 because of the performance aspect and especially RWD. TL has crazy torque steer. It's also cheaper, but I heard Acura's navigation systems are amazing.
What kind of problems did you hear about G35's? I don't think there are widespread major problems, just little ones here and there. Only thing I can remember right now is the window motor just stopping to work, but dealer can replace the motor without problems. Acura's known to have transmission problems though. I've been looking into G35's since 2002 when it first came out, and I think it's a great car for the price. 2005 version gets boost in power and redline with more distributed/high-end power.

in terms of physical looks, G35 wins it for me, but TL's rear... man, that is SOO sexy. I have seen it in person and man... I just can't stop staring at it on the road.

G35X is AWD. Only Sedan.
When you live in the south, winter doesn't matter

A lot of people up north are just getting snow tires for the G, they say it handles fine with enough grip. I think it would be alright if you can control a car well enough.

*cough*STi*cough*

The G35 is a nicer car. I personally never liked Acura's "luxury" line though. Also my 2 cents, FWD and RWD are just as easy to drive in snow if you know how. People just prefer FWD in snow because they instinctively take their foot off the gas when they slide, and FWD handles that much better.

the g35 won car of the year in 2003 and 2004 and it has VQ engine which is on the list of top ten best engines for a lil while. My vote is for the g35 coupe since i like performance over luxury

The TL is one of, if not, the best looking cars on the road today... way better looking than anything that MB, BMW or Audi are offering these days. Acuras are also very reliable as well. However, if you don't mind 2 doors, you're going to have a tough time choosing between a TL or G35 Coupe. Otherwise, get the TL... or better yet... get the RL
WTFs up with the dude who suggested a Pontiac instead? He must be smoking some good **** [which I hope he can share].

Actually 2 years old, since 2005 just came out December/January. Most cars get new styling in 4-5 years. They modified the 2005 VQ engine a little for more power/response with new front bumper, color, and wheels. The coupe didn't get any styling changes (except a little interior) but did get 298 HP and 19'' Rims. No Brembos tho

brembos are reserved for the real sports car. Z

2004-2005 G35 coupes had brembos.
And basically, the Z and G are same cars. The wheelbase of the G35 is a few inches longer and the car is about 100pounds heavier w/ 4 seats, but mechanically the same cars.

My roommate has been looking at both of these cars and he found that the G35 is a better built car with less problems. Plus the G35 has a better resale value. G35 gets my vote all the way, but I'm sure you will be really happy in either car.

Who's car is that? I don't like those rims, too much chrome. Shoulda gone with some Volks. I don't like the Stillen grills either, really cheapens the car. Rather stay stock or go with some Gialla.
And yup, the G35 has the best resale value I think. A 2003 G35 Coupe still costs around $29,000. I'll show you some nice G35 coupes....

yep, took the words right out of my mouth... i test drove the TL and didn't like it. It is an absolutely beautiful car, but it just doesn't handle and drive as well as the G35. I actually got a 04 Maxima instead (I only like the G35 in coupe, and well, i'm not allowed to get a 2 door

)....
Anyways, I've been driving my Maxima (while I have every single possible option, it's a cheaper version of the G35), and I would not turn back. The TL just does not handle and drive as well as the Nissan/Infinitis...
They're all beautiful cars though. The Infiniti/Nissan have MUCH more customizability compared to the TL....
But seriously though, test drive them, and that's the only way to tell.

I'm partial to the '05 TL but I own one.

G35 is probably sportier, but it just looks ugly... Prefer the Z over the G35 for looks.
How about the Cadillac CTS/V?

I would definitely have to go with the G35 though. That car has been on my top list since it came out.

Acura TL is the one i'd go for... but it depends on what you expect from your car! like looks, handling, power ect. imo the Acura seems well balanced in all these areas then the Infinity G35.
get the gxp! if you dont like the GP the bonneville is a nice sedan otherwise get the TL

The G35 for sure. I don't even think there's a choice here. Acuras are nice cars, but they're not in the same class as Infinitis. I don't know where you heard they have reliability issues, but I am skeptical of that.

I'D go with the infinit only because I have driven the acura tl and it's powerful but seems heavy and sluggish and not as nimble as say the Accord.

Err, they are in the same class (Acura and Infiniti). And Nissan (Infiniti) have been having problem after problem with reliability lately. I don't know anything about the G35 in particular, but the FX/Murano has been a nightmare and so have several other recent cars from that outfit.
The TL is a very nice car, and Acura/Honda definitely has an edge in reliability.
But personally, I prefer to stick with the Germans.
I love the new A4

I've found you have to see it in person to truly appreciate the new design.
Available in 2.0T (200HP) and 3.2L (255HP) models - as well as the 4.2L (350HP) S4 and 4.2L (420HP) RS4.

When I said that they're not even in the same class it was my opinion. In my opinion Infinitis are a lot classier than Acuras. Anyway, you can't talk about reliability and then bring up an Audi. German cars cars, specifically VWs which Audis are based off of, are among the least reliable cars in the world.
The Infinity G35 coupe is such a ballers car. Way better then a Honda.

The G35 is still a nissan...It's got some cheap plastic interior. I'd say the TL is more classier/comfortable, but the G is more sporty.
