Full Version: Active Directory branch replication?

I'm looking to add a 2003 Standard Server to a network where at 2000 Server is the PDC. I help manage a group on campus that is unrelated to the University but we piggy-back on their network (domain name wise). We have our own subset of IP's but we all share DNS. I'm hoping to do this so that I can manage my users through group policy, etc.

I know that when the server is added to the domain it will want to replicate AD, but is there a way to configure it so that it only replicates and/or manages a particular subset of AD, such as just for our users? It seems from what I'm reading online that this is possible (the branch office scenario), but is the configuring done at the PDC level? Rights granted, that sort of thing?

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated as we're hoping to do this within the next few months!

You can set the security on an OU and you and only can have control over that. You can try to set it up in a different Site, that will reduce the AD replication. You should replicate all AD information to all DC just for redundancy.

Have fun!!!
