Hi

I have an old Compaq iPAQ running Pocket PC 3.0.1171 (Which I think is PPC2002, but not sure).

I want to install windows media player on it, but I have lost all my old software archives. I know a version was compatible, as I had used it before, but cannot find anything.

Can anyone help at all?

OK, it seems i need the installer for Windows media 8 for PocketPC, which MS are no longer distributing. Great!

If anyone has a copy, please let me know.

If this is in violation of the rules, sorry - but come on!?

As far as I understand, Windows Media Player should come pre-installed on most Pocket PCs. Have you tried a hard-reset of your device (backing it up first of course!) - maybe at some point media player got uninstalled and a hard reset would restore it?

I did find this link on the MS site, it's for an upgrade to WMP on the PPC, but unforunately it needs a previous version already installed to work:

Alternately, if you just want a free media player, I'd really recommend these two (better than WMP!) - I believe they can both run on older devices: w00t.gif
GSPlayer
BetaPlayer

Hope this helps!

Hey, that BetaPlayer really does the job. No real reason to upgrade now smile.gif

Cool, glad to help! biggrin.gif

yeah. BetaPlayer does the job and a half!

My only wish was that Microsoft Voice Command could be configured to use it instead of WMP. WMP always bogs down my PPC, which is no good. Still, I love to be able to tell my PPC what I want to listen to.
