Well last night I went to use my iPod but it wouldn't boot up. I thought the battery was not charged, so I plugged it in with the wall charger, same thing occurred. I get the apple logo on the screen, but it never boots up. I plug it into my computer this morning getting reader to do a restore of the software, but I cant get it to mount because it never loads that far.

The hard drive is on this whole time and there is no way to turn it off without waiting for the battery to run dry. Resetting the iPod brings it back to the same place.

Any ideas, it is a 10gb 3G?

Try doing a hard reset on your pod. Google it I'm sure you'll find instructions.

theres not really a "hard reset" for an ipod
the only thing you could do for that would be to kill the battery then charge it again

also i just noticed u said its a 10gb 3rd gen lol

im not sure what disk mode would be for that, i am only familiar with the 4th gen

try going to the apple discussion boards
or ipod lounge

Ipod hacks

Try holding the menu and play buttons at the same time, that should be a restart.

You mean previous and next?

I get an error saying that the disk contains no volumes.

Edit: I restored it anyway and it seems to work now.

Thanks

yep disk mode then restore was the correct move. Glad you are back and working again!
