After breaking my third iPod and losing my new computer (Dad needed it), I want to buy a new one. The problem is that I only have an old computer with USB 1.1 and Windows 98SE. Should I wait to buy another new computer before I buy another new iPod?

Thank you for trolling, please drive through.

I would recommend that you wait.

Well,

I guess you can get the iPod to work with Windows 98 but, you will have to do a lot of work. My sugestion is to wait until you get a new computer.

You could also get a Mac Mini(i want one so bad,) and then not have to worry.

Just a sugestion.

Guys, he doesn't have an iPod right now, it is broken. The second poster is saying screw the ipod, and by the computer, not nessicarily saying the iPod sucks. If I was stuck with a computer like that I would screw the iPod and buy the computer first too. I don't think there was a troll intended.

Clearing the air.

I seem to think the mac mini idea would be good, because didn't they have a deal on for an iPod when you bought a mac? I am looking at the mini lol.

There's no reason why you need to wait. Transfers will just be slower. You could get a USB2.0 card if you wanted.

However, since you've already broken three, do you really want to pay a bunch of money to break another?

how fast is the computer? if it's a decent speed, you can get a USB2 or Firewire card for about $20....

if it's a decent computer, no need to toss it.
Hova
With the money I've spent on the other three, I could have bought a second computer for my father. The reason I keep buying these things is a bit personal.

The computer I have to work with is a completely worthless 533 mhz celeron with 128 mb ram.

Again he's on Win98, no support for iPods and alot of effort (as mentioned earlier) to get it up and running.

I would hold off for the time being, as your time configuring this whole thing to work can be better spent elsewhere. Seems you love your father very much, go hang with him! Then in a few months when you have the cash, go all out and have some fun

iTunes can only run on Windows XP or 2k. There are other alternatives, but it would probably be a good idea to get a new computer first.

I say install win XP on the old computer, sure it will take 10 minutes to load and even though it's 1.1 it's not as slow as you think ( /me has 1.1 and HAD 3rd gen pod (sold it tongue.gif )), or just wait till you get your new pc smile.gif
