One detailed tipster claims that new PowerMacs will be announced at the upcoming National Association of Broadcasters conference which takes place between April 16-21 in Las Vegas, NV.

The ambitious report claims that the new machines will include the rumored 970MP starting at 2GHz, alongside 2.5GHz and 3.0GHz models. The first Blu-ray drives (Apple adopts Blu-Ray) are expected to make their debut in the top-end model.

Under the hood support for Hypertransport 2.0, PCI-Express, and a new Audio IC is reported. Memory support will be boosted to 32GB of RAM in the high end models with availability of 4GB DDR modules.

While G5 PowerBooks are not expected, a higher resolution "PowerBook HD" is expected to be debuted at NAB as well. The new model is expected to simply boost the resolution of the current 17" PowerBook and offer the ATI Mobility Radeon 9800.

Steve Jobs has made comments at MacWorld SF that 2005 will be the year of High Definition.

Hell YEA!! I'm Waithing for this ALLONG time... biggrin.gif:D:D:D

Can you imagine... the cost... of a 4GB RAM module...

Blu-ray? I doubt this...

I don't doubt the processor upgrades, better audio IC, hypertransport 2, pci-express... but the 4GB RAM modules and the Blu-ray drives screw up the story...

Uh, April Fools? 32GBs of RAM? Blu-Ray? Riiiight.

Yeah, why not say that the new Powermac line will have to run on jet fuel

Even if some part where true.... Could you again imagine the cost of the PowerMac?

I just got my mini, enough power for me to play with OS X for the moment. But even if I fall in love with Mac and OS X, it's just too much money to get a PowerMac G5 (with decent amount of memory, good video card and LCD monitor).

Good quality, nice package, very nice OS.... but in the end, it's my wallet that takes the hit.... The mini is the begining, please, lower the cost of the other Mac product!

Like all other Mac related hardware news unless I see it in the Apple store......I don't believe it wink.gif

Blu-Ray is finished. They had a couple of burners & recorders on display some time back. The time to introduce it into the consumer market (costs) is not so early.

Um, what is it that is unbelievably about a maximum capacity of 32GBs of ram?

They've just updated the PowerBooks... I would be disappointed if they released new PB's, seeing as though I just spent all of my money on the new 2005 PB!

Something I can believe, however, and I'm not sure if it has been mentioned or not, but new iMacs, eMacs and iBooks...

I wouldn't be on it. They just changed the prices a couple of months ago.

Why is that so hard to believe? With 8 slots in the PowerMac G5's, and 4GB sticks available, it's a no-brainer. That is the maximum of course, so it's not like Apple is going to be shipping them with that much. Even at roughly $100 per GB, that would be $3200 just for the RAM!
fukachu
if these rumors are true that would meant he entire line up (excluding mini's) is getting updates as macrumors (appleinsider actually) reports that the eMacs, iMacs and iBooks are getting a update. i just cant see this all happening in the same month, thats a little action packed for apple for me to believe

Maybe it's possible, but why the hell would you need so much ram, and who the hell is going to pay that much for ram pinch.gif
XiXora
hmm couldnt 32gigs of ram help the dual dual processor rumor?

8 gb x 4 cores = 32 gb
