I'm not sure if this is the best section for this thread, but I am looking into buying a DVD Recorder. I don't really want something like tivo because of the monthly fee, but i am looking for a recorder (not necessarily with a hard drive) that will record in multiple formats. I prefer to use - more so than + when burning dvd's by the way also.

I'm sure some people here have them. Any recomendations would be appreciated.

note: with lite on i tried the 5006, i had it for a while, but returned because the drive was noisy and sitting 15 feet away from it i could hear it, and it keep freezing and skiping while playing dvd movies, about 3-4 times during playback.

but i heard this model should have fixed that issue

i tried the pioneer at friends house, its probably the best one from this short list.

but that Humax one is probably the best deal, as you get 80gb hdd, dvd recorder and you can add a TIVO subscription later if you want

I have a Panasonic and it's amazing.
Pink Floyd
which one do you have?
The Crock
I have the Panasonic DMR-E55, good recorder. smile.gif

I have the DMR-E65S and it's simply amazing. It only records to DVD-R and DVD-RAM but that's enough for our use. We use -R's for dubbing VHS tapes to DVD and our DV camera footage. All our TV recording goes onto the RAMs.

Of all the reviews I read about DVD recorders, the Panasonic DiGA series seem to consistently get 5-star reviews.
