If for some reason your topic view has become threaded or odd looking...
simply click the Standard view option as indicated below:

Most likely you've clicked the threaded view option.

If your topic view starts to look like this:

And you don't know why... then you've most likely switched to the outline view without knowing it.

To correct this problem simply click on the Standard hyperlink as shown in the picture.

Your topic view should now be corrected.

Linear keeps the initial post at the top at all times which is great for large threads that go off topic.

That's a known Firefox bug with older posts from a previous version. Not this issue at all.

Remysaus
hey, I used to get just a list of posts when i went to a thread, but now it just gives a small list of the people who posted and 1 line of that post and you have to click each post individually to view everything, is there a way to put it back to normal or was this a site update? i don't like it sad.gif
iCeFuSiOn
You shoul dsee "Switch to: Outline - Standard - Linear+" in the top left of the first post of the topic, click on Standard and it should be good to go.
Remysaus
oh nice, thanks. must have accidently clicked it then tongue.gif

Merged (I personally think we should remove the Outline button or bury it in the profile page)

I think people should pay more attention to what they click, but hey, that's just me.

Here's the reasoning you could use for doing such a thing: http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=498889

If we alter our forum skin and remove/bury the Outline View then virtually no one will suffer and we can remove this stickied topic and save ourselves some effort and save our members some confusion.
Slimy
It really depends on how much trouble it would be for the developers. As well, I can still see people confused about the linear+ and standard views, but definitely not as much as with outline.

There is very little difference between Linear+ and Standard. Most people wouldn't even notice. You could hide/bury all three choices and leave everyone on Standard. While I use Linear+, I wouldn't cry to see the option gone. If it was moved to the profile page then I wouldn't cry at all.
Slimy
I use Linear+ as well, but it often reverts to standard so I have to switch it back. There's always the options drop down menu I guess, and that is really hard to mis-click. If standard and linear+ were removed from view though, I could see members crying.

Alot of people dont read the stickies. Full Stop.

Happened on another forum i used to work with, its easier in the end to just have no stickies, rather than keep saying "please see the damn sticky" tongue.gif
Slimy
That brings up an interesting question actually. How exactly do we know that the stickies aren't read? I mean, if someone reads it, fixes their problem, they don't exactly have a need to create a topic about how they fixed the issue thanks to the sticky. The sticky in question has 9,000 views smile.gif
bmaher
9000 views, 184,439 members = 4.9% reading (assuming only one view per person)

Am I the only one that has this? I find it extremely annoying and wish it didn't do this. I've reset my cache and history and I've logged in and out multiple times. I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.3 with NO extensions.

Click on the "Standard" link right under your arrow.

What happened? I hadn't logged in to Neowin for a while, I come back and the thread view has changed.

How do I get it back to showing multiple posts on one page?
