I don't seem to be able to get any sound out of my PC when using SUSe 9.2. I have a soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS soundcard installed which works fine under windows XP.

Yast2 reports the card as running, yet I am unable to get any output when I press test. Volume control shows that it is on the ALSA mixer but also shows that the on board Sigmatel sound is on OSS, but this doesn't show in Yast2.

Can anybody give me any pointers on how to fix it?

Fixed, Kmix showed that everything was muted even though volume control didn't. blink.gif

I was wondering why my sound wasn't working in Gentoo...

I've heard of this many times with different distros of Linux. I do not understand why Kmixer defaults to mute. It is an absurd thing!

took me a good hour to realise. even checked the alsa config and all appeared fine, since it was.

I had a similar experience with Gnome 2.8 in Mandrake 10.2 RC2, in the begginer the sound was working, then when I start in gnome again and Play a video, the sound was not working then I checked the sound property and I realized that the system Locked the sound, I just Unlock and everything works fine, I don't understand why the system lock the sound automatically, is a bug????

For my Audigy2 ZS the problem was that the Analog / Digital control was toggled the wrong way.
