Okay so the x64 bit editions of 2003 server have been RTM'd

Some people talk about Microsoft giving out free? upgrades to exsiting users of the x86 versions.

Is this actually happening and will it be possible. I have a AMD 64bit test machine in work and I was trying out the MSDN x86 version now avaliable, but can see no option to upgrade - the only solution was a fresh install.

Does anyone know if they will be bringing out update scripts later on down the line?

ALL versions of x64 will require a clean install. There will never be an upgrade path from 32bit to 64bit. MS will have a program for trading your 32bit XP for the x64 version.

Ah okay, thanks for clearing that up.

letīs clear this up: Microsoft will, in late April, replace, for all legal customers that bought 64b machines, Windows XP 32b for 64b.

Though itīs not an upgrade... itīs a clean install smile.gif
