Hi I have wanted to play with Linux for years and am finally getting around to it. I'm waiting a few days till Ubuntu 5.04 is available for download and am looking forward to entering the Linux universe lol. One question I have is I have a P4 with dual hard drives, my main is 120gig and my slave is a 40 gig which I was using for my documents and downloads to limit fragmentation on the main drive "works like a charm by the way". My question is I am planning on using the 40 gig slave for Linux and am wondering if there may be a problem with booting this way as Win XP is on the master drive. I'm just wondering if it would affect the layout as the master is NTFC and the ausis boot management is pretty limited.

It shouldn't as long as you let Ubuntu install grub (or maybe they use lilo) as the boot manager.

You will not find any problem, I recently moved to Ubuntu to test it from FC3 and my setup is very siimmilar to you, dual HD, one (master 160GB) partitoned 50GB for WinXP and the rest ffor files.. My second HD (30 GB) is partitoned 4 GB for the windows Swap, and the rest for Liux, incluiding an small Fat32 partition so i can move information to my NTFS partitions from linux and the other way around
