Full Version: How to network a windows and linux computer?

I have a wireless network in my house, one pc is windows xp the other us suse linux 9.2. Im just wondering if theres any way I can network these to share things between them? Im not so much worried about sharing between xp and suse its mainly to send files from the suse box to xp.

Any help apprecieated, i need a simple guide lol

I don't know much about linux, but you need some setup called Samba.

Do a google for samba and file sharing with xp. I'm sure you'll find something.

I just use FTP, much easier to setup smile.gif

Use YaST to install Samba. Make sure NFS is installed as a module or built in your kernel.
I don't remember if you can configure samba through YaST though. you might have to edit the config by hand.

YaST has a full blown samba client/server configuration. Check under KDE Control Center / YAST / Network Services.
