I run a music related site called sdgunderground.com and wanted to add a forum to have the visitors interact more and was wondering if anyone has some good suggestions as too what I should use ( either than phpbb) and where I can get it for free... pm me, email me ( jeffmunro @ gmail.com ) or leave comment here. Invision Power Board is a great forum software, but unfortunately it is now commercial.
Note: there is currently a sale going on, take advantage while it lasts.
