Check if you are using OpenGL for rendering. And get the right drivers

And when you said "it does not work right" , can you pls tell us exactly what is not working...

well take a long time in the splash start screen and freeze, did u know why? my opengl and video drivers are up date!

3ds max actually IS slow and heavy.
I suggest u to stop using max and start using Blender 3D. It's fast, light, efficient, multiplatform, open source (free) and really stable.
See for urself what im talking about: www.blender3d.org

Happy Blending.

Hey Captain ILM, try doing some heavy CGI jobs, then come again. Blender sucks. And oh, original poster, how about you buy a legal copy of the application, then the crack won't hamper with the functionality of 3DSMax.

3dsmax DOES take long to load. and it DOES freeze at the loading screen (then again, so does photoshop and most other software that do have a splash screen). there's no problem with 3dsmax+Windows Server 2003

How about you quit trying to be a jack@$$, then your attitude won't hamper the ability to help people.

Set it up on a client pc then run the a render farm using the server, you would be better off that way
StuRReaL
make sure your hardware acceleration sliders are set to maximum in your advanced display properties.

Failing that try Maya as that definatly works on Windows Server 2003. However theres no reason why Max shouldn't work. Do you have the latest patches for it, maybe service pack 1 will fix some issues smile.gif

I had similar problem when used opengl driver but after switching to software driver all works fine. My problem was freezing when working with materials or when opening projects.

Oh yeah, that's not all. Not only am I not calling up Autodesk or Microsoft for support (after all they sold me these thousand dollar pieces of software), I'm posting here on Neowin. Because who would know these warezer'd products...er...waranteed products better than the kids on Neowin.
