Hi,

Theres a possibility that I might get an iPod photo, or a regular iPod.
I read on the site that it can play AAC (not that I have any aac files) and MP3s.

What about WMAs? Can the iPod not play these or can iTunes convert them or something.

Also, does the ipod support dragging/dropping, and I assume when I connect the iPod it would just show as a removable HDD and I could just copy/delete files freely.

Also if theres anything else I should know about;

Thanks smile.gif

Are the Apple In-Ear earphones ($39) considerably better than the standard ones? Or would the standard ones be good enough for amazing sound quality?
Rob
You can use your iPod as a HDD, correct -- but this is just for files, and using it as a portable hard drive. The actual music files must be transferred through iTunes.

the ones supplied are terrible, i got the in ear ones, they were much better, but broke, but the in ear ones still didnt enhance the bass that much. I would look at some sony headphones instead

Couldnt you just converted any type of music file to an MP3 they transfer it to iTunes?

The in ear headphones are crap. If you are looking for some buds with decent sound quality, get some Sennheiser MX500's from Amazon.com for just under 15$ and they will sound so much better than anything Apple's headphones can deliver.

yes you could.... but transcoding like that = loss of quality. Cannot just drag and drop songs to HDD in "My Computer", must be added using iTunes

Will these connect to the iPod okay - I didn't think they used the universal jacks?
Etc.

If you are already talking about converting from wma ( sick.gif ) to mp3, then you should be more concerned about the quality of your audio files as opposed to the headphone quality.

And, yes, the iPod has the same headphone jack as any other player.

iPod headphones = teh suck. I have some Sony bass ones which are a hundred times better (6 to 22khz instead of the dodgy 22-22khz).

of course they will, why would they make headphones that don't?

the supplied ipod headphones arent that bad.

If you are talking about the range of sound the earphones make, the ipod earphones cover the human hearing range (20Hz-20KHz)

I have a set of the in-ear ones, and they stuffed up within 6 months of getting them (the left earphone is a lot louder than the right). I took them back to the shop, they sent it off to apple, i got them back and they are still bad.

But when they were good, the sound quality was a lot better

I never opened the stock headphone package, I bought the Sony MDR's in black. They sound great. It's surprising how nice the bass pops from these little things.

in-ear headphone can be quite hazadous to your hearing sensitivity. If you are into classical music or have high sensitivity of high frequency sound range, you should not use in-ear headphones.

That's the fastest way to degrade your hearing ability, and once it is damaged, you will not be able to recover. Present technology, not even nanotechnology can do the miracle, yet.
