Ok, Well i got my Power Mac Dual Processor 867 MHz 768 Ram ect... Still looks like its out of the box and runs like its out of the box tongue.gif. Have had it for 2 years now happy mac user. I notice after leaving my mac running for even a day just sitting there the avalible RAM goes down to Sometimes 8 MB. Right now after just sitting here for a day with iChat and safari its down to 282.2 MB and it doesnt go up it just keeps going down. Is there a way to reclaim my ram to get rid of un used ram. Mac OS X 10.3.9

As a short answer, No..

You have to understand the way OS X works is, the more memory used (prefetched) = better. OS X will always try to use as much RAM available, and when more is needed, it frees up. Ergo monitoring system preformance on "memory available" is not viable.

so thats why i have almost no memory free all the time. i thought it was like windows (more free memory = better)

Well, not only what Nick said, but Safari on 10.3 also seems to have a memory leak. From what I can tell, it's fixed in 2.0 (in Tiger).
