Full Version: cant get into itunes, it says its locked

ok guys ive tried everything to get my ipod music back onto my computer casue my dad deleted everything

so first i used iPodrip which corrupting the files, then i used the one on ipodlounge but every time i get to and AC/DC file i get an error saying the file doesnt exist or something and now i plug in my ipod and the ipod doesnt even show up and it says that i ahve to do a factory restore but if i do that i wont have any music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: sorry about the title thats what it was gonna be about but i fixed it, can a mod please change? thanks

I think the / in AC/DC is causing the problem...

maybe but thats never been a problem

any ideas about the pod not showing up?

Did you try both firewire and USB? Also see if it shows up under disk management. Windows might be trying to map the iPod to a drive letter already in use, you can check and fix that there

Oh and as for getting music off the iPod back in iTunes on the PC ... Ipod Agent. Superb little program

i am pretty sure a factory reset keeps all your music it just sends all your settings back to default

now when i say factory reset, i mean the reset that you hold the clicker and the menu button. thats what works for me when the computer cant detect the ipod

well i dont want to do a factory reset im just wondering why my ipod wont show up anymore and it says to do a factory reset

I am not sure why but it does it to me to. I do the reset and it works. I dont think what I do is called a factory reset though, its called a manual reset.

ok i did manual reset and it didnt erase my songs and then i plugged it into my mac again and it asks me if i want to update my software, i say yes, then its says that it cant update windows formatted ipods
