I looked on Crucial, Apple, and Google, but I can't seem to find any 768mb iBook memory sticks.

Are they even made?

Because i want to boost up my memory, but i don't want to pay $250+ for 1gig from Crucial.

I'm not in any serious rush to buy it, i'm just curious for future(Tiger) use.

I've never seen a 768 stick.

128mb = 2^7
256mb = 2^8
512mb = 2^9
1024mb = 2^10

768 = 256+128, therefore:
768 = 2^(insert decimal here)

^^I'm so sorry, i have no idea what that means.

I really wish the iBook had 2 slots though.

he means that you cant buy that size, its not a standard size.
you need to get a 512 and a 256 seperately to make what you want.

Damn. 768 is what i have now.

Okay, thanks.

iBooks only have one user accessable memory slot, so, the most you can add in a G4 iBook is 1GB.

Some iBooks have 768 MB of memory because they have 256 MB built in and the user has added 512 MB to it. It is not just one single 768 MB of memory. You also can't have just 1 GB either, it would be 256 MB build in + 1 GB user installed.

Hence why I said the most you can ADD is 1GB, not the most you can have... wink.gif

You cant have a mem stick in a non power of 2 format it doesnt work you could have 768 mb on 1 stick but only 512 would be usable because of addressing. 2 sticks is different though.

does a 512MB KINGSTON PC2100 DDR CL2 memory work with an iBook G4?? I dont think so, but i'm not sure... Anyone that knows?
