I'm thinking about switching my Inspiron 8000 over to some flavor of linux, I just can't decide which. I've already got Fedora Core 3 on another laptop, and I've been pretty pleased with it, but there are so many distros out there now that it's hard to pick one. I'd almost wait for Core 4, but since SUSE & Ximian are both Novell projects now, I'm tempted to wait for the next version of SUSE / Ximian since they are supposedly making Ximian into a full blown groupware app. I dunno, I'm torn, but my i8k is having issues, and needs to be reloaded, and I really don't want to go back to XP. Any thoughts?

Ubuntu seems pretty popular in our "which Linux distro" thread. And it will be different enough in that it is not an RPM-based distro (RH/Fedora, SUSE and Mandrake Mandriva are all RPM-based).

Ubuntu will be more of a "different" flavor than SUSE would be.
