I know that! That's why you should try extra hard to make sure your choices are meaningful in the first place.

exactly. couldnt have said it better.
Sure -- I've never used Opera in my life, but given that Mozilla and IE have their own forums, it makes sense to have the next most popular browser (correct me if I'm wrong here, apologies) with their own forum.

This is stupid reason. Opera more more popular than other exotic browser like Safari, Konquerror etc. There many topics about Opera but there no one about Omniweb and other exotic.

I strongly agree. Opera is one another popular browser and it would make sense to make a sub-forum for it. Look at all the Opera topics in the Web Browser Dicussion forum talking about Opera.
Neowin Staff, it's your call, but I think it's a great idea to keep browser discussion tidy. Make it easier for people to search for help on a particular browser.

Apr 22 2005, 08:24
Of course...I agree. Atm almost the whole first page is Opera related (have 30 threads pr. page.)
like [X]-bYtE said there are loads of opera topics on the web browser discussion board so it makes sense to have them in a sub forum, it would be better for new people as well because they would know where to put topics related to opera.

Only if KHTML (Safari, OmniWeb, and all those other awesome browsers) gets its own sub-forum.
I would like to see the inclusion of a subforum for Opera, though I also agree with what I'm sure the official response will be (That this influx of threads is to be expected because of the new release, in a month or two the Opera topic will be no more popular than normal)

we got more posts because of new version 8, that's all

Agreed on that, but still Opera is good browser and deserves to have his own sub-forum.
Otherwise the official Opera forums are a better place to go with problems

I disagree.
If you look at Web Browser section, most of threads are about Opera, reflecting its increasing popularity.
On the other hand, I can't find a single thread about KTHML or so-called "awesome browsers", and it would be unnecessary clutter and waste of space if subforum for those browsers was made.
It's about time mods can't just answer "Opera isn't popular enough" and get away, because Opera apparently IS a popular browser now.

We are monitoring the situation. As with any big release, a lot of threads from new users are expected. We need ot make sure that this isn't just a "what's hot" influx before making a final decision.
meh, i would like a sub-forum but I'm not going to hold my breath.
If I have any questions about opera I just visit their forum anyway.

The time came a long long time ago, but of course, Neowin is infested with FF fanboys, so I wouldn't count on it happening..
Opera has been growing steadily and one of the biggest competitors, it really does deserves a subforum of its own.
Well, i'd think a bit of my sig should tell you my answer

But yeh, i think we should wait a bit just in case it all dies off

I also think that an Opera sub-forum would be nice. I agree that most of the posts lately are because of the new release, but it's not going to vanish to the depths of nowhere. I think that a sub-forum would increase the amount of topics about Opera, it's sort of like knowing where you belong. It would also be nice to have a localized space for us to share information about Opera, like how to customize menus, toolbars, skins, mouse, keyboard, etc.

A new sub forum is 2 minutes work, tops.
If it sinks, its another 2 minutes to delete.
What exactly is the problem?
The problem is it shows support for Opera, and God forbid the mods support anything other than Firefox!

Apr 22 2005, 18:36
yeah. A subforum for Opera would be a good one. There's no reason as to why there isn't one.
Where's "There should have been one made when Mozilla got its sub forum ages ago"
I think this place is a joke if they don't make an Opera subforum now. Just look at all the Opera threads being created now. Back last year when it was requested, they said no because there wasn't enough Opera traffic. Well now there is, so where is it? Create it, or apologize for lying.

mis a pol option :
NO, Neowin has consuetude to forbid Opera.
Why Mozilla browsers have subforum? Why opera does not have yet? This is discrimination!
