I went to a shop with a friend today and we took a closer look at a few mobile phones such as the
"Sony Ericsson T630" and the "Sony Ericsson K500".

They are both great phones and the prices for them are pretty low too. smile.gif
But there are heavy differences between them.

[From left to right: T630 (Black), K500 (Silver)]

* The T630 has bluetooth and a better design (in my opinion), but it has only 2 MB of shared memory and can't play mp3s and you can't record videos with the CIF camera. The maximum resolution of the pictures taken with the T630 is 352 x 288 pixels .

Features:

- Java
- Bluetooth biggrin.gif
- WAP 2.0
- T9
- Calculator
- Image viewer
- Scheduler
- Voice memo
- USB port

--------------------

* The K500 has 12 MB of shared memory and can play mp3s & mpeg4 videos. It has also a VGA camera (max. resolution is 640x480 pixel) that can record videos.

Features:

Camera VGA, 640x480 pixels, video cool.gif

So, what do you think ? Looks/Buetooth or Multimedia/VGA Camera ?

btw, I have a question regarding the Sony Ericsson K500.What's the difference between the K500, K500i, K508 & K508i ?

Thanks in advance.

I'd get the K500. It looks really nice.

I myself have an S700i and couldn't be happier, although it could use a firmware update.

my friend has the t630...its not that great
take the k500 u will learn to love the design ^^

when my dad upgrades in november i get his t630, I think the T610 looks so much nicer... Its the only phone that I think looks great in every way.. Oh yeah back to the topic... I would get the K500 but I bet it costs alot more. The question is... Do you need all those features?

Can you update the fimrware of SE phones by yourself or do you have to bring it to a service center ?

No, the T630 and the K500 cost the same.
Yes, I need all the features.

Can anyone suggest a different phone which is in the same price range. The K500 and T630 cost $ 180 here.

I'd like to hear some opinions of people who have either the K500 or T630 (or both).
Pacal
One of my classmates got a k500 recently. It's a very good phone.
It hasn't got bluetooth but she can live with that. I could send everything to that phone from my N3660 and vice versa.
I've seen the t630 too and it makes really crap pictures and you can't do anything with 2mbs of ram.

Yeah, the K500/K700 onwards, you can update online, but you need to have the DSS-20 or 25 (the docking station from the P800/P900)
RPatel
I would say the K500. Great phone. It would easily beat it. The only downside is the bluetooth.
Storm
K500, i had the T630, only good thing really is the looks
Neobond
I have the T630 and am happy with it, I got it before the K500 came out and I use Bluetooth, so its the better option (for me).
kizzaaa
I've got a T630 and it's a really nice phone to use. The only this is typing SMS messages isn't as quick as a Nokia, besides that it's a great phone.
Lan88
i would really love to get the K500. it has everything the T630 would have except that it doesn't have bluetooth like its predecessor the T610, and its elder brother the K700.

imo, if you cant live with bluetooth, take the T630. if you can, and take the K500.
drgrudge
Get K500 thats better than t630 also T630 is a relatively older model than K500.
K500 has mp3 player which T630 lacks.
icecream
I'd get the K500, I had the T610 and didn't use bleutooth much, only to transfer some files from the pc to the phone, but the K500 has an USB port, so that's faster then bluetooth.
playing full mp3songs with 12MB is useless, but it's nice for some mp3ringtones.
the phone has infrared, so you can use that to transfer files to another phone.

go for the K500, I think features are more important then looks.

Thank you for your replys. It looks like K500 is the winner cool.gif

BUT, I came across a prepaid offer where you get the Sony Ericsson K700i for like $ 180

[Sony Ericsson K700i]

Sounds good to me.I might get it, just have to convince my mom biggrin.gif

What do you guys think about that ? In my opinion, the K700i is at least twice (or even three times) as good as the K500.
XiXora
t6x0 are very slow ( it sits on my desk in dust )
kx00 are quicker ( not exactly speed demons but are much much better than the old t6x0 )

go k500!

*sorry for double posting
Pacal
The k700 is awesome yes.gif
You can't expand it's memory, but ~40mbs of internal memory should be enough happy.gif

Ya, should be enough.People say that you can fit like 20 mp3 songs in 64 kbps bitrate and the sound quality is very good I've heard.

***sorry i just cudn't resist****

The K700 is great. I've had mine for almost a year now, and it aint many things I can complain about.. Sure, if you compare to the topmodels of -today-, it's in the dark...
But hey, it's packed with great features and the prices are low as well now.

I say buy the K700 if you need the extra features the K500 doesn't have.
Brodel
I'd go with the t630, I have one and really like it, sure the k500 has more functions but I dont think i'd ever need em and the t630 looks a lot nicer so I went with it.
