Well today when I turned my ipod mini on and started listing to music it kept jumping (the music) so I tryed turning it off and on but it won't come back on. Just blank I have tryed the following:

Trying to reset it.
trying to see if itunes finds it
pluging it into the power supply (not the computer the main power)
tryed removing drivers and installing again
Windows xp is saying in device manger that the device can't start (code 10)

But none of these work. Does anyone think it needs to go for repair?

Thanks in advaced for any help.

My mini has started doing something similar. A couple of times it has stoped responding, wont turn on, wont charge, computer wont recognize it etc. After about 24 hours it fixes itself and I can turn it on again although it will be out of battery. Im gonna contact apple about it soon (before my warrenty runs out).

Is the warrenty one year got mine at xmas?

Go to apple.com and sign up, then they will send you a box to post your iPod back to them then they give you a refurbished one in about a week smile.gif

Some tips that may/may not do the trick:

Restore iPod Mini to factory defaults?
Upgrade firmware?
Reset iPod?
Plug it into another Mac/PC?
Use a different USB/FW port or high-speed port?
Plug it into the AC adapter?
Format/erase the drive or partition(s)?

After that, I'm out of ideas sorry.

Thanks for the tips but most of the things there require the ipod to be on or the computer to dectect it which are not happening.

UPADATE: It's back but all the battery powers gone recharging smile.gif

Exactly, it comes back after a day or two. Mines done it twice now. Im guessing that it's a problem with the battery.
I just don't want for apple to get it and for it to work and them not find anything wrong with it.

In doing iPod support for the past year, here is what i've found. Plug the iPod into the AC adapter, then attempt to reset (as opposted to resetting with the unit not connected to power). If the problem keeps occuring, http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod and get the unit serviced.

If you read apple's warranty, as with most RMA type repairs, they reserve the right to replace the unit with a "reconditioned" iPod. They do this to speed up repair time. Unless the problem is solved by a "restore", they will give you a different unit. Not to worry though, because the casing is new, its the parts inside that are slightly used
