My friend got his Samsung SGH D500 today and he asked me to make a post here (ya, he doesen't have internet but has a D500, weird wacko.gif) and ask in his name what the fastest data transfer would be for his D500 ?

An IrDA (Infrared) adapter, a Bluetooth adapter or a Data Cable ?

Thanks in advance.

edit: I see its a phone, a data cable would probably still be fastest

From computer to computer you mean?

fastest would be using a ethernet crossover cable

No, from D500 (phone) to PC

Probably Bluetooth and Data Cable will be tied.

Not only to the phone, but also from the phone (the D500 has 96 MB of internal memory)

Edit:
btw, he says he's got USB 2.0

like I said in my edited post, data cable will be fastest wink.gif

Actually it depends on the quality of the cable you buy and even then bluetooth is faster than most cables.

I have a DC11 cable for my k700i and have used a bluetooth adapter with the phone as well and the bluetooth adapter was consideribly faster.

I don't have bluetooth. I just use the cable for my Nokia. But I've heard bluetooth is faster.

Bluetooth 1.1 and even 1.2 are way slower than USB. Hence the need for a new standard, due out soon 'Wireless USB'

Thanks for your replys. But he bought a Bluetooth USB adapter today.I think it's the best solution. He and his brother have both the D500 and it's easy for them to send/recive data from/to the the PC that way (they both use 1 PC).

i just bought a bluetooth dongle for my pc... i can transfer files to my x50 at about 40KB/s ... not bad but nothing great... i still think connecting the pda straight to the base is better... (i know we're talking about a cell phone here) but i would say data cable would be the best.
