Well, here is my work-in-progress logon screen for Windows XP. The theme, as the topic says, is based on the Firefox web browser. This is my first attempt at messing with this type of thing so please cope with my n00bness.
Information:
Created for 1024x768 screens.
Basic changes:
- A tweaked gradient on the bottom of the screen and an added one on the top of the screen. The idea was to blend in with the main background image gradient.
- A new background image made from the one found here.
- Subtle font change (verdana is my favorite).
- A small con box expansion just to see if I am messing with the right values.
- Created in 1024x768 resolution.
For image 1 and 2 below, how do you modify the images and/or scripts so that the box around my name and icon are transparent? One assumption I have been working under is that I can merely replace the image with one cut from the background and use that as the box. It works for when the box is fully selected but not when the cursor is over it nor when it is faded.
What parameters control object placement? I want to move the icon and coinciding box...err, somewhere else, lol. The basic parameters such as "topright" and "topleft" are pretty obvious but I would much rather have pixel control. My theory is that instead of, for example, "topright" I can substitute in coordinates. I just fail to know the syntax.
Any help on that, either by direct answers, links to tutorials or other posts, would be extremely appreciated.
Also, if anyone wants the current WIP version of this logon, feel free to let me know and I will upload it ASAP.
All constructive comments, criticisms and suggestions are welcomed, of course.
Thanks!
