I hate the Creative SB Live drivers that they have and I have had wayyy too many problems with them. Are there any other 3rd-party drivers I can use for my card other than the kX drivers (I think that's what they are called, I had problems with those too)

Thanks.

The new ones don't work.
The old ones are way too buggy.
I've had problems with them ever since I can remember and I've tried to fix it many times but I've given up.

If you can find out the model number by opening the case or downloading a program called EVEREST under Devices/PCI Devices-(wich will tell you the model number). It will let me know if you can use the drivers I'm using. Sounds like you have the same problem I did with my Dell CT4780. Drivers where buggy and couldn't use the new ones from creative without loosing all options and software that came with it.

Just as long as its not one of them sb020 type model numbers, they will work.

try uninstalling all sound drivers, then boot into safe mode, run driver cleaner pro (you can get it from guru3d.com) and clean out all creative and kx drivers. then hit tools and select cab cleaner, and run that on the driver.cab (this might take 10 minutes or so). now reboot and try the latest kx drivers again.

What problems did you have with the Kx drivers?
