I was thinking before reading this thread that you bought a used car from a smoker or something, so I was gonna suggest using the foam from oxyclean to clean it up...however if it's from a single time, then I say vacuuming it really well should do the trick nicely. If there's still a smell I believe frbreeze or somebody makes one for cigarette smoke...actually it might be glade... One of my friends is a heavy smoker and he uses it in his house and suv and it works pretty well.
I'd still try a good vacuum first though, to actually get rid of the odour-causing agents

cloth interior? febreeze for autos should do the trick nicely.
also: there is a odor neutralizers sold in places like walmart and maybe others. it is sold to be used in garages, locker rooms etc.
it has something like baking poweder and charcoal inside. it basically absorbs all odors.
left it in on my car seat for a few nights - worked like a charm

make your friend clean it. make it smell like you just whooped his ass

cause thats what you gotta do for letting him smoke.
the BEST idea for you, is to go to a grocery store / auto-parts store (canadian tire if you have one) or something that knows about hardware (not computers...)
they have special stuff for getting the smell of smoke out of cars... it's mostly used for trying to sell your car, but it will work

you have a car, DRIVE IT LOL

i smoke, myc ar doesnt smell like cigs, leave ur window open a crack overnight, dont smoke in it for a few days (or never in your case). If u must, get one of those scented trees like in the pic earlier in this post... open the bag but make sure the bag covers up a good 3/4 of the tree and let it hang from the string that way and give it a couple shots of febreeze. It'll be gone in a day, try driving with ur windows down.

One thing I used to do, when I was in high school and had a used car that stunk, was get dryer sheets and stuff them in the floor vents, under the seats, and in the back. It smelled a hell of a lot better than the previous smell.

if those sprays dont work, you can always go to a car wash and get the inside shampooed, tell them to add some scent to the soap so that it sinks in the cloth really good.. only problem is that it might cost you a bit, costs about $50 here

get your friend to pay for it.
Try the Febreeze like others have said spieg, that stuff works pretty damn well on stuff like that. Also, do what candyman said and give it a good vacuum.

Won't make your car smell better, but it'll make you feel better.

Hi, Yeah frebreze works marveously, One that they use in rest homes but is sold in weaker botles for household use, Which in resthomes is actually used when someone does opsies!

To get rid of the smell. But anyway the household one is for all odors including smoke. The name of it is Neodor, It is really good! Let me know what you think of it. I know we have it in New Zealand and I saw it in Australia when I was there.
All the best,

Leave your windows cracked overnight if possible, it should go away pretty quickly. I smoke in my car sometimes and you ususally can't smell it overnight if the windows and left cracked a little.
The Frebreeze and a good wash down will work.

Smokers are not going to notice the smell, obviously. Although the idea that the odor is still there from one time does amaze me.
Try cruising around with the windows down, if its not to cold. It should get rid of most of it, then get it shampooed. Makes my car smell wonderful everytime, even to the non smokers who ride in it.
get a Odor Bomb
Auto Detailing Solutions.comQUOTE
DESTROYS ODORS IN A VEHICLE WITH THE PUSH OF A BUTTON
Eliminates Odors Permanently. Odor Bomb eliminates all types of malodors. Effectively eliminates odors caused from urine, decay, rancidity, fire, tobacco smoke, cooking and mildew. Each can neutralizes and destroys odors in up to 6000 cubic feet of space. Simply place the can on a flat surface and depress the valve into the locking catch and leave the room. The valve can be operated to give a short burst of spray by lightly depressing the valve and pointing the can at the area to be treated. SUGGESTED USES: Vehicles, Hotel Smoking Rooms, Conference rooms & Meeting Rooms, Locker Rooms, Bars, Nursing Homes, Washrooms & Lavatories, Kennels or anywhere odors are a problem. New car scent.
Always worked for me... don't know about that website... never used them, but odor bombs work wonderful! they are what detailers use

hey man u got to relax the smoke odor would go away in a cople of days even if u wouldent do anything. plus man u get mad to easy only because he wrote something with out reanding, is not reason to get mad like that
buy juicey fruit gum, unwrap all the tops off them and leave in ur car, eat them all just before they go stale do this like for 3 weeks and its alll gone for good plus u get gum
I usually just drive around with the windows open for abit and it gets the smell out.
You friend must have smoked alot for it to smell so much that you cant handle it.

On a day that it not too hot or not cold and really low humidity..
- Shampoo any carpet in the car and the seats. Don't forget the trunk
- Wipe the windows down with some window cleaner
- Clean the dash with cleaner you buy for the auto-parts store.
- Wipe down the dash with some armor all
- Make sure you clean out all the vents(take them out if you know how to)
- Try using a soft brush to wipe down the dash and ceiling.
- Keep your windows and doors opened for the day to make sure it gets dried and do that outside in the open and not in a garage
(hope you didn't hot box it). Best way is a commerical deodorizer or letting it air out. a combination of all might work, next time crack the windows when your lighting up and it won't smell like smoke when your done. just leave the windows down for a lil after your done
