i see you like the shape tool. here is what i see wrong with it. too blocky, too colorless, too grey.

Shape tool? Never even used it before, hahah.

Ctrl + N, 5 x 5 pixel canvas, fill the bottom and left first rows of pixels with black, edit > define pattern.

If you mean the big rectangles, then I just drew random rectangles with marquee holding shift, filled with black, gave a drop shadow, then adjusted opacity. Copie dthat layer twice and moved each copy to the far left and right to fill out the image.

It is kinda blocky and greyish, not really the type of wallpaper i'd like.
