I wasn't sure where to put this, but I thought it belonged to Mac more than the Unix section.

Does anybody know what the latest version of SuSE PowerPC edition is? Does it run on Mac? (PowerPC platform).

Does SuSE Linux 9.3 run on a Mac? I have seen the sys requirements but they make no mention of the PPC architecture, only the x86, 64-bit, etc.

Thanks for any info,

I believe the last version was 7.3 of SuSE PPC Edition. I don't want to get SuSE 9.3 if it won't run on my Mac, thanks. smile.gif

I don't think SuSE makes a PPC version anymore, but there are plenty of others around that do. Mandrake, Ubuntu and Yellow Dog, to name just a few.

Since this hasn't got much to do with MacOS or OSX, I am pretty sure that the better place is the Linux forums.

Anything SUSE version later than 7.3 will not run on PPC.

You can poke around http://distrowatch.com a bit, but YellowDog comes to mind, as does just a regular Debian (there may be Deb children that are pre-made for PPC).

There's also ubuntu linux which comes in a PPC flavour and has got some quite favourable reviews. Or if you fancy, Gentoo has a well maintained set of packages for PPC, as well as their excellent Gentoo handbook.

Mandriva makes a nice PPC edition as well. http://www.mandriva.com/products/range

SUSE no longer supports the PPC platform thus there is no official version available of 9.3 for it.

There are however several other Linux distributions available as noted above.

As I recall the last version that was released for PPC was either 7.3 or 8.0.
