family is buying a new car. we're finally getting rid of the worst car i have ever ridden in my life so far. our 98 Range Rover.

we've come down to two choices.

either a 2005 Toyota Landcruiser or the 2004 Land Rover Range Rover.

before someone asks why we'd consider a range rover again, they're partly designed by Ford and are powered by the BMW X5 engine.

so we're kinda stuck on those two. we know what to expect from toyota when it comes to durability and quality, but ride quality is known to us, and we have no idea what to expect from the Range Rover.

we really dont' have any time to test drive them either, since it is a MUST we buy one of the two by June 18, its an anniversary present.

so if you own these vehicles.. share your opinons, thoughts, facts please.
thanks

oh... forgot to mention, which of the two can take a beating, cuz my aunt sucks at driving.
better yet, what hurts more? seeing a new range rover banged up, or a landcruiser banged up? i know its hard.

personally the new range rover is an awsome SUV but the LR3 won best suv ... in the mags..
although those can be bias... some things i have experienced.. my best friends mom had a land rover and well she didnt get her oil changed that the dealership.. and when she did take it to them for service they were ****y and wouldnt work on it because she hadnt been taking it to them for maintance. So that was a downside because.. they want 90 bucks for a new air filter and oil change.. which in my opinion is outragious! ive road in a land C. before and it was VERY VERY NICE... They really handle great for a huge boat. My cousin has a 1999 and it runs strong after 200.000 miles. she lives in the desert in cali too. Goes off roading all the time..in sand dunes.. has great clearance... and she said she hadnt had any problems.

Just for convience sake i would go with a toyota.. just because i think the Range rover service department thinks too damn highly of their POS SUV that is OVERPRICED TOO Just my 2 cents

dontgetit.gif seems to me like you have time to test drive them.

id get the range rover hands down because of aesthetic values but if you need an SUV and arent honestly going to do anything with it besides transporting people and cargo then you might as well go for the toyota.

let's not turn this into a gas price debate. just pretend for one second that we live in a perfect world and you had a choice of those two models. which would you drive.

I'd go with the land cruiser. It's better. If you wanna spend on a name brand buy the 'rover. You'll look cooler if you have the money! I attached a vehicle comparison of the two if it helps. I'd definetely take a quick ride in both though. Different people prefer different rides.

u think american petrol / gas prices are high, UK has probly got the highest costs for fuel on the planet, thats why everyone drives deisels other here, else, u get fleeced by 20 - 30 mpg and 80p a litre for unleaded petrol.

Get the Landcruiser =). Also get a supercharger with that if you can =P. TRD. yes.gif

With your luck on the road I would recommend against an SUV and get a Sedan. You would probably kill someone else or kill yourself with it if you got a SUV. no.gif
