My first gen iPod gathered a crap load of scratches over the years, I saw a pic of some brushed iPods a while ago so I thought I'd follow suit to get rid of them and I thought it fitted in pretty well with the Apple look.

It's hard to get a proper pic of it and it's not done yet, but you get the idea...





In the flesh it looks REALLY smooth and awesome. Anyone else done this?

I did it awhile back and in my opinion it looks a lot better brushed than shiny with minor scratches. Having it brushed also eliminates fingerprints.

I bet you guys that the next iPod will have a brushed back...Apple likes to copy the trends that its users crate.

I'm doing it with some wire wool and kitchen rubbing pad things. I'll take the back off to do the sides so it doesn't mess up the face

A neat trick to this is that, you can put whatever logo on it.
Just put a sticker on the back where you want it to show, brush it, peel the sticker off.

Yup, I'm going to design something later and mask the rest off, then brush the other way so the new logo's sorta inverted

Not sure... I've had this about 4 years I think so the waranty is gone anyway
