Im a little confused here i have been mucking around the last couple of days making bits and pieces,

I suppose the first Question is ,I can make icons and miminize,maximize buttons in 32bpp alpha channel and use them not a problem but when i make say a Taskbar using 32bpp alpha channel it shows up as a solid taskbar.It doesnt have the transparent look to it???

What am i missing???

what do u mean by taskbar it?
also is this in photoshop?
if so, why not use opacity?

Yeah im using photoshop pro to create my bmp's then i use another program to convert them to 32bpp alpha blend/Windows Bitmap with Transparency

I just used the taskbar as a example

I would like to make semi-transparent parts of windows
Example :Start menu of windows longhorn 5048 is semi-transparent or if you would call it a tinited class

what usually works for me is make it a png.. then open in paint and save as bitmap. otherwise gif movie gear or whatever it is called can do this.

i dont kno much about this, but when i created transparent looking taskbars, they needed to be saved bmp (and a certain type of bmp aswell).

At this time Windowblinds will make your start menu transparent but it won't make your taskbar see thru. You will need another application to do that.

I dont use windowsblinds as im limited to what i can use,Making a theme for 5048,Anyway i worked out its not possible to use transparent items on the desktop
eg taskbar, windows borders.Only can use them on buttons and icons so my next question i suppose

This is a bit hard to explain but here goes
if you have seen any 5048 screenshots when dwm is enable it replaces the window border with the "Glass" Border,I have a made a new class border which works fine, but any new glass that is inside the window wont show up because there is still pieces of the aero theme convering it,So i guess the question is how do i remove the bits of aero safely without my msstyle file spitting it

eg the bar with forward and back buttons and the bar below it with history,favorites and maybe even the address bar as these will be part of the new glass border

any help greatly appreciated
