Neowin labeled/staffed Guide Wiki

I have noticed that we have a forum for "essential guides" I also noticed that there seems to be a pell-mell organization of the section and it requires a large amount of searching to find lack-luster information. My proposal is to start a Neowin Wiki specifically devoted to different computer related guides.

Software

The proposed solution could incorporate MediaWiki. This software is easy to use and manage, and is very stable.

Moderation

The wiki could be monitored by current staff, or if that spreads too thin, new staff specifically for the position.

Pros

-Better organization for oft used guides or tutorials
-A place for those wishing to spread their technical knowledge for the less technically inclined
-A great resource for the internet in general
-Too many others to list

Cons
-Adds a bit more to bandwidth/hosting requirements
-Requires constant moderation to deter vandalism/useless guides/posts/edits
-Set up and maintenence server side can be time consuming

Conclusion

All in all a WikiGuide would be a good addition to the neowin "network". It would greatly help all users and would make repeat posting/asking dumb questions for simple answers and "forum thread title" searching a thing of the past.
I think it would be a welcome change, and I am willing to volunteer to see that it happens/ becomes a success.

PS A good name could be : NeoGuide or NeoWiki etc hehe

a) I fail to see the requirement of a wiki when this is a public forum, not a formalised technical support center.

b) I like how Collection of Essential Guides is right now

I think this is a good idea, but more in the area of making user created software/wallpaper etc to be easy to find.

This has been discussed before and, if I remember correctly, is a very long term goal for Neowin.

From a newsies standpoint, its an awesome idea.
