Is there anyway to "Trick" Windows Server 2003 to make it think it is Windows XP Pro? So I can install apps that only work in XP Pro? Like AVG, Etc.?
Josh
How about you lose the pirated copy of 2003 and purchase XP? I think that'll do the trick for you...
Jason
Why not just get Windows XP I doubt your using any of the Server features.

As others in this thread have pointed out, Server 2003 is exactly that... A server. Games and certain apps will not run on this OS because it was not designed for that purpose.

Rather than searching for an impossible positive answer to this question, why not format and install a LEGAL version of XP Pro. I am sure someone who has Server legitimatly would not ask such a pointless question.

Yes there is a way, this program can also remove the timebomb from 2003. It can also do what you ask... I think it was called <removed> but not sure

I am not sure this is allowed on Neowin. I am also not sure that <removed> which more tweaks system speed and hidden settings does this. There is also <removed> etc, and there is a version for 2003 but i dont remember seeing any setting which allows this kind of system wide change through the 2003 OS.

The bottom line is, that 2003 was not built for this purpose and XP was. Use XP... that simple!
