My little Pug has been leaking oil ever since I got it but I ahve got by simply by topping up oil regularly. However I am sick of this and decided that I am going to try and patch it up. As the car is worth buttons I don't want to do a proper job of fixing it, eg getting new parts. A simple patch up will suffice. I have a few questions:

1) Where are the places that are most likely to leak?

2) How can I detect the source? My plan was to clean off the engine, pour in some oil and run the engine to try and find the source. Any cleverer ideas?

3) How can it be patched up? Is there some magical solution that can plug the leak?

Cheers!

your idea of cleaning the engine then running it is the best way to do it.

best way to patch it up is to get a gasket for whatever's leaking. They're cheap, not hard to install (except sometimes head gaskets), and their sole purpose is to make sure fluids don't escape.
