I have just a few questions regarding the apple iBook.

-Is now a good time to buy the ibook, or will the standard soon be updated? ( I wouldnt want to lose out on features)

-What iBook should I get? (I'm tight on money, but i'd really like to know peoples opinions on the difference between a 12inch and 15inch, memory cpu etc?

-Do the ibooks come with the new Tiger OS X, if not is there a discount if you buy a new ibook?

Thats all I can think of for now, I've been a PC user all my life but I'd like to look into an apple laptop, I just need some help.

Thanks again

yeah they're definitely going to be upgraded very soon so its the worse time to buy.

hmm the ibook comes in 12 inch and 14 inch. both have 1024 x 768 resolution which is a little cramped if you're a heavy user. maybe the new revisions will have widescreen and stuff. both have 256mb ram which is slightly too low for smooth usage even with 512 on my mac mini its not perfectly smooth. the new revisions may have 512mb ram but only in the higher models like the eMac.

do you think g5 ibooks and/or powerbooks are anywhere near??

Don't buy an iBook now. They will update soon. Updated models will probably have 512MB by default with Tiger. I would recommend the 12".

No G5 iBook.

any idea when ANY revision to the powerbook will happen? be it even just a ram upgrade or feature upgrade like lit keyboard standard or something (i am getting these things anyway with my high end model, but i want to know incase i can save money and/or get a better model)

I would expect a powerbook update for late summerish. Probably not much of an update either.

iBook updates are far overdue. Its hard to tell what Apple is planning to do.

They have more then one option on this subject.

1. They could concurrently update both the powerbook & ibook line
2. Release the Powerbook line first and then 2 weeks later the new ibook line (sort of what they did with the powermac & imac lines)
3. Release the ibooks first, least likely as this will take sales away from the Powerbook line.

I say wait till at least macworld, think it's june 6th, I am sure they'll bust out something fresh there...I would expect a widescreen and speed bumped ibook.

There's no such thing as a 15" iBook.

With MacWorld so close, you'd think there'd be more rumors floating around. I really want a 12" iBook but I know it's overdue for an update. Widescreen and 512mb of RAM would be nice. Hopefully it'll stay around a grand too.
