Hi,
I'm quite new to skinning and all that. Could you please tell me what software I should use to modify/edit .msstyles themes (luna and royale.msstyles) to finally have a new theme in that .msstyle format (because I prefer not use a software to apply the themes).
Thanks in advance for replies
Sid

that's what many people use, but i prefer reshacker and resedit. it's more intuitive, in my opinion, and completely free.

Ok thanks for answers, is stylebuilder the best software to edit themes around?
I don't care of buying a software,if I really get the best software, that will allow me modify themes better/greater than others
Thanks again for helping

they're all the same. they all let you do the same thing. i don't like stylebuilder. it's harder for me to use because there's so many options, it's cluttered, and it's not intuitive.

i think reshacking is easier (but then again, i learned how to reshack files first).

just use the trial first and see if you like it.

Ok I tested it and I am having some problems:
I made some little changes (colour changes etc.) from royale.mss theme file, just for testing, I saved the theme and did a zip (with .mss, .theme and .dll). Everything correct here but I extracted the files in C/WINDOWS/Ressources and I can't use them (I run multipatcher v4, so that's not the problem). In windows display properties, the preview of the theme isn't displayed properly (there are black backgrounds..) and when I apply it it gives me windows classic theme
Can anyone tell me what I did wrong? Have i skipped a step? It's the first time I am editing a skin in .mss so I don't know the exact procedures.
Please help me (if I should post this elsewhere, let me know)

yeah this is the one I used and with which I am not able to apply the new theme (I am not using styleXP)

I forgot to precise that the new theme doesn't appear in the dropdown list of Display Properties > Appearance > Windows and buttons
