In IE when my mouse is not in the address bar I could keep pressing tab to come back to the address bar, I tried doing it in opera but it doesn't work? anyone know how to do this or do I have to use my mouse

Press F6 instead.
you can also use Ctrl+Tab in IE to go directly to the address bar...
i got so used to this, so i assigned Ctrl+ ` in opera to go to the address bar (because Ctrl+tab already switches tabs..)

It's F8, actually. And press F9 to return focus in page.

It's very easy. Open the options, go to advanced then shortcuts. Edit the keyboard shortcuts. You can also search after a shortcut.
