I've been wanting to get a Powerbook 17 incher for a long time, so I went to one of the distrbuters here (Kuwait) so they said we can preorder it for u, for a steal price of "$3,600", yes thats US dollars

I went to the next distrbuter and they said, we'll give it to you for $3,550, again us dollars, WITH A TIWANESE CRAPPY BAG!!

note: the package includes the standard spec 17" no special extra hardware or 2gb memory, another thing you should note is that they sell the 60gb color ipod for $1050 (iam converting currencies using yahoo currency exchange)

As you can see the deals I am getting are not hot at all, both of them (there are only 2 distrobuters) told me that they will gladly install any software i want for free (ie office, macromedia suite, adobe suite)

I realize that they have to pay for customs and shipping and crap .. but this
is highway robbery

my questions are,

a. can i order the powerbook from outside the US, most of the sites i went to require that i live in the states to order it.

b. if so, is it possible that i can order the keyboard layout that has both english and arabic letters (this is not VERY important, but sometimes i need it)

c. i hear the power adaptor works worldwide so i wouldnt need to worry about frying the powerbook if i plug it in my power adaptor (true or myth)

A) You can't buy it from the US Apple Store or anything. You could however buy one on eBay if all else fails and have them ship to Kuwait. Probably your best/cheapest option.

B) Most likely not.

C) You can buy a World Traveler Kit from Apple which includes a set of six AC plugs with prongs that fit different electrical outlets around the world. You just plug these onto the PowerBook's power adapter. Will it work in Kuwait, I am not sure.

D) sad.gif Best of luck!
