The first thing I do anytime I format any of my computers is after installing XP, install this theme. I can't even use my computer without it wink.gif

As always, excellent work!

Excellent theme. I've been using it for sometime now after ePlatino and Rhodium Edge. Clean and functional... very nice. smile.gif ninja.gif

Any idea when v. 5.0 will be out?

I might have an idea wink.gif

I JUST got my new PC today (a Lightening Fast 2.53 Ghz!!!)

So now that I have a functioning PC, which doesnt get lagged by a simple sneeze, I can work on it again smile.gif I do have version 4.1ish 2ish done, it just fixes some minor bugs and implements some requests. I'd love to hear ideas to further milk the idea, but it may not reach 5.0; theres not much left to do if anything really....

Chris
bigmoose
only thing would be a better shyllstyle, but thats been discussed for a while now, and we need someone to do it

i like the idea of just using the title bar for the thingies in the shellstyle

maybe complete theme with login, and all the dlls done?
semifamous
YAY!!! 4.1!!! or even 4.2!!! =)

WOOHOO!!!

Oh, right, it's not really "out" yet... OK....

/me practices some patience....

I am proud to announce (after another 6 or so months of nothingness), the NEXT WATERCOLOR UPDATE! w00t.gif

I have released Watercolor 4.2 to my webspace and soon to themexp.
Anyone else who wants to host the theme do to themexp's recent *cough* slowness and errors *cough* is free to do so smile.gif

Changes include:

- optimised a bit more by reducing colours in some files, and also by multiple use of bmp's within each colour variation.
- added a feature? where you can now see date, time and day in the systemtray with only 2 heights of the taskbar.
- cleaned up some controls.
- changed a few controls to better match the original watercolor style.

I didnt start a new thread because it just isnt that big of an update.
I will also mush this in with the first post in this thread.

What the Future holds for Watercolor blink.gif :

*shrug* I have no idea, thats why I need your suggestions and comments, to keep milking the life out of this theme and reach version 5! smile.gif

So please feel free to add comments and/or suggestions to this thread, or you can always email me at:

kmkkid at hotmail.com

Thanks for your support smile.gif,
Chris

Hi Binary,

I just downloaded this theme from themexp.org, it's fantastic but I have one niggle.. whenever I maximise a window such as internet explorer I get a small 1-2mm border along the top of the screen wher it doesn't fill, I don't mean maximise with button but when right clicking start bar and tiling a window, maybe i'm just being a perfectionist but it'd be great if you could sort it. smile.gif

thx. great theme.

can't, it's a limitation of the msstyle if you use transparency.
Sorry

Binary, is it just me or does 'g','y', 'p', 'q' 'j' kind of cut off at the very end of the letter? can you fix that in the next release?

i'm not sure if it is with all fonts but i know it is if you change the titlebar to "MS Sans Serif"

It can't be fixed. I dont know what the big deal is, most people dont leave windows in a fullscreen unmaximized state very long anyways smile.gif And by transparency I mean there are 2 pixels above the titlebar that are transparent to make the theme look right. Windows doesnt understand this transparency, so it figures the 2 pixels are there (I believe even windowblinds has this issue with it's skins). If you notice, Luna has 2 pixels above the caption buttons, I dont know why MS put them off centre like that, so I blame them wink.gif Believe me if there was a way to fix that "bug" and the unable to resize a small window bug, I would have fixed them by now smile.gif

Chris is absolutely right..... This is due to the fact that a window has a border.... which cannot be removed during skinning and this adds the extra pixels to the top (and all the other sides too)... so you have two choices.... make the titlebar luna style.... or do it the way chris did (and MS in their original implementation).....

Great Work Binary......

I await 5.0.....

I know that you can please some of the people all of the time, and you can please all of the people some of the time, but can my time be now? I was just wondering how hard it would be for me to be able to have three rows of icons in the tray in addition to three rows of time, day, and date. If that's something I can change with ResHack, just let me know how to do it so that I don't have to bug anyone, but that's what I really really want........

I dunno if your the one who emailed me, but I am sure if I allow three rows of icons they will overlap the system tray somewhere from 3 rows and up. I have tried to keep this theme as neat as I can, So I dont want to attempt messing it up for people which may have lower resolutions and what not.... smile.gif

Plus I dont see why it matters?

It doesn't *really* matter all that much... I just like the consolidation of having it take up as little space horizontally as possible. Right now, I'm still switching between Watercolor 3.1 and Crystal, which both allow three rows of icons. 3.1 does work well for me, so I can continue to use that if it's not something you're planning on fixing. In any case, Thanks for at least making it possible to have three rows of the time in the tray. That's a very useful feature. =)

I did email you once upon a time when your computer wasn't working all that well, but that was regarding three rows of time, day, and date, not three rows of icons. I just thought that three rows of time also automatically meant three rows of icons. I guess not. =)

Oh well.

I'll get over it....

sorry if I sounded like a prick. I can look into fixing it, but I do have it at two rows for the reason mentioned above. But even if I do fix that it wont be included untill next version which may be another 6 months away knowing my timelines wink.gif If I fix it I'll send it to you or something.

No need to apoligize at all. =) No offense taken.

What you've done with it is very nice! I can't tell what little things have been changed from 3.1 to 4.0 or 4.2, but for you to edit a "Final" version and continue to fix it up is very admirable. =)

If the fix is something that's relatively easy to do, or it's just one file that needs to be edited, you could just let me know which one and how. I've never tried to edit an msstyle before, but I can't imagine it being all that difficult to change that one thing, once you know what the one thing is... =)

k I updated it.

Like I said, the bottom icon now overlaps the line on the tray if it's a full 16x16 icon, but if you dont care I dont care. I only use my taskbar at one height smile.gif

Here's the updated version:

Watercolor 4.2.1

Chris

This is perfect! =)

Don't ever let anybody say that you never do anything nice for anybody. I remember way when 3.1 was the "Final" version. Then you came out with 4.0, and the people rejoiced. 4.2 was even better, and you continue to fix things on something that was "Final" months ago. =)

Watercolor rocks!

And Binary rocks!

(That's my way of saying thank you. I really appreciate this, even if I'm the only one who is as picky as I am.) =)
