Toxikk, if I make the menus that way then the startmenu looks ugly, cause the highlight color for the logoff and shutdown buttons will be different.
Chris
Could we see a screenie of how the start menu would look if it were done that way?... menus with the outline seem really nice to me... >.<
just invision big blue rectangles around them.

Shellstyle
I realized the other day that the shellstyle I created for the blue colour scheme in my Metallic Shades visual style actually looks pretty good with the Watercolor ergonomic colour scheme. Or at least it does in my opinion!! I partially based the title bars in Metallic Shades off those in Whistler (or maybe it was Watercolor!!) so it's a good match.
If anyone wants it just download the whole visual style from the first post in the Metallic Shades 1.5 thread (save me uploading just the shellstyle - 56k dialup). It should be fairly easy to change it to suit the other colour schemes.

I don't have your bug.
A shellstyle.dll is what defines how the boxes at the left of a folder window looks like. You know, the "Tasks" pane...

Also I will be making my own shellstyle. I already have the mock up.
Chris
just my 2 cents on the topic of discussion goin on here... I think Red would be a cool color to add to this theme as there is already a grey which looks alot of like to Black. In regards to the outlining on the menus I think that looks really nice, I would love to see that implemented to the next version of Watercolor.

I mentioned this problem 2 or 3 weeks ago.
It's occurs only at 16 or 24 bit color mode.(Settings on Display property)
Any other themes don't have this problem, so I guess it's a bug of Watercolor.
Start panel idea?

That might be doable in my watercolor plus version I'll be making, if you wish

First I wanna get this theme as bug free and finished as possible, hopefully this will be done while I'm on xmas break

For the Plus version you can ALL have your say, and we will collectively figure out what it should look like.

I'll make a new thread for ideas when that time comes.
I also have another colour idea, but it's gonna stay a secret (it will only be distributed on it's own as a sort of "promo" item

).

Here's a little thing I noticed in this style:

The fonts are different in the window text area and on the caption buttons of the original blue style. The other three styles match each other, only the blue is different. This is with the new one, Watercolor 4.3.

could you make a simple slimer edition?

whoa, ok dont go nuts but come on even you must admit Windows machines are just fugly as hell. But then again people who use computers for a "practical use" dont seem to care, god mine as well give em a god damn console. I'd still like to see the blue thin taskbar even with a white windows sign in it, something other then the boring windows taskbar. It just reminds me of being stuck in a monotone cubicule for the rest of your life.

hmmm like I said I was just getting a point across, I wasnt trying to be mean

Why have apple logos plastered all over a windows machine? It just doesnt make sense. And no, I nor any other people in this part of the forum are likely to say windows is fugly. We love customizing our machines to make them look good, and thats why we are here. Thats an insult saying our OS is ugly

At least windows is way more customizable than OS X

. Not trying to start an OS war, but it's true. And I'd much rather have Watercolor than Aqua. Pinstripes can get annoying after awhile. In any event, tacking on an Apple logo to watercolor wont make it look any better, so I strike down the suggestion of any apple logos in my theme!

Yeah I have the checkbox issue too - on my laptop - which doesnt have the same color depth as my tower boxes - that is my biggest gripe about WC cos my laptop gets as much usage as my other machines - and this is a bummer

ok binary so you think its only a coincidence that you and a very small group of other people are the only ones not using icons or theme designed for macs. I dont want to insult YOUR os but i'll insult the hell out of mine. The way windows was origionally designed was all monotone with no sence of color, it was designed to stick somone in an office and keep them consentrated on work without any other stimulis to be creative, its designed for monkeys. And now with luna they attempt to give a splash of color to the user but even it looks god awful, the only reason why i use a pc is because everything works with it, unfortunatly since people have some sort of bias to macs theres not much out there for them.
Too lazy to look through the thread, are there WinAMP control icons that match Watercolor?

A large number of people here use watercolor, and other non mac styles. And an even larger number use luna, because they dont know about skinning. Don't get me wrong I love mac's and I am going to buy one. However a windows theme doesnt need apple logos on it when it is on a windows machine. I dont mind an apple logo in an Objectbar theme, but thats because it is meant to precisely mimic the mac menubar, wheras there is no start menu on a mac, so the start button should not be an apple imo. Like I said before, replacing a flag with an apple doesnt make any difference to the visual quality of the skin, slapping a mac logo on a skin doesnt make it look better.
