i just installed Mepis(A very nice, easy to use, out-of-the-box new hardawre support ready Linux distro based on debian - www.mepis.org) but I allocated only 2Gb to the partition and it's already getting full.

I wanted to increase the partition size via Acronis Partition Manager in Windows XP, but then it reported that I had to configure something in /sbin/grub in linux..now I have absolutely NO clue on what to do in there.

So does any one have any instructions on what is the easiest way to increase the size of the linux partition without having to format the entire partition, doing a fixmbr, and reinstalling it again?

Thanks in advance.

Well, copying the data out, remove & recreate (at new size) and copy data back in would be the cleanest way (whether a *nix or Microsoft partition). Did you try qtparted? I'm not sure if it will "resize" or not.

Also, what partition(s) are you planning on resizing? Can you post the results of an fdisk -l (lower case "L", not a number "1", and you must be root, or sudo the command). That would help.

Thanks for the reply, but during the day I couldn't acceess the internet, so I just decided to delete the partition and rebuild them in a more organized way. I already looked into qtparted though, but it didn't have that option. Thanks a lot smile.gif
